My Caturday Plans

Standard

Hi Peeps!  Night before last we had some BAD storms through here and yesterday morning Dad was out in the yard and discovered we lost the tops of two BIG trees!  Snapped right over and are just suspended on other limbs up in the trees.  What a sad sight really – to see a HUGE 100 ft. tree with about a third of its’ trunk snapped almost off.  There’s another one in the front yard like that – one of our pretty orange maples.  One way to look at it is there will be fewer leaves to get off the ground with those big trunks gone – but the other way is to be sad beause the trees look so SAD with their branches off.

We’re actually going to have more rain tonight but hopefully not with the accompanying high winds.  You know I hate lightning, thunder and even heavy rain…………I head for the basement!

Early morning bird watching

Gee….I wish it would stop raining…..not as many birds to watch!

Mom and Dad are taking a mini-trip today – will be coming home tomorrow – so please forgive me if I don’t visit you until Sunday ok?  It’s not that I don’t love all of you – – – – I do! – – – – but I’m just not as good on the keyboard (in spite of the fact I have thumbs) as my Mom is.  She’s a mighty fine secretary….so when she gets back I’ll do some catching up with all of you.   I’m sure you know what I’ll be doing while they’re gone….

Sam Standing at Front Door

Mom and Dad – hurry home – I miss you!!

We call this the Grandma Chair - Sam thinks it's a great nap spot.

Guess I’ll just sleep here on Grandma’s chair all day since I have no nice, warm “Mommy lap” available! Sniff…..

Happy Caturday!

Kitty hugs, Sammy  😀

    • It’s sad to lose a big old tree……or even a PART of a big old tree……but these storms have been real “baddies” – they hit hard, and are over before you know it but there’s a lot of damage along the way. Sniff Sniff.

    • Hi Mollie! Loved your Halloweeeeeeeeenie photos on your blog this morning! Too cool! The tree damage is very sad but I suppose by now we should be used to seeing stuff like that – we live by the woods and there are huge trees everywhere. We’ve been lucky none of the trees or branches have fallen on my HOME SWEET HOME!

  1. That is so sad Sammy about your trees. That must have been some storm! We are having 5 of our dead from the drought Oak trees taken down next week. We are sad too but CH said exactly what you said. Less leaves to suck up in the leaf super sucker, less trees to mow around. But we feel the pain of your trees being damaged, one of your maples?!!! I know your MoM and Dad are going to have a wonderful weekend and they get to cruise in their new car! And I bet they are going to have good FOOD and be with friends 😀 Snooze a little and play with your tissue and they will be home before you know it with big hugs for Sammy!

    • Hi Miss Pix….so you have to take down some trees too – you know like we do how sad it is to see them go! Well, if they’re dead they need to go – and if they have severe damage like ours they need to be trimmed back. Dad’s gonna call someone next week about it. I hope the squirrels will forgive us – they love racing around through the treetops. Yes, I’ll be just fine today – plenty of things to do. Mom gave me a fresh load of tissue yesterday and my toybox/wagon is full of toys to play with….PLUS Mom left me a bowl of treats so I’m SET. They’ll be home tomorrow…..AND they deserve a getaway ONCE in a while (but not too often..tee hee).

  2. Hang in there, Sammy! I love your little window perch. I wish I had one. I’m too tiny to see out the window, unless I stand on the arm of the chair and balance myself on the window sill. I hope you’re not too lonely. Take a nap. Oh, I guess you already know that…..

  3. Hi, Sammy. So sorry to hear about your trees. 😦 It’s always so sad to see them come down. I hope your parents have a great mini-trip, and that you stay out of trouble while they’re away. 🙂 By the way, Atticus is madly attacking his tissue paper as I write this.

  4. Hi, Sammy! Too bad about the trees, buddy. Those things will happen, though. At least they didn’t fall on your house and do any damage….
Enjoy your “alone” time this weekend; you’ll have time for lots of cat naps!

  5. I sorry about your trees Sammy. I love our maple. Lots of birds and squirrels live in it and I can see them from two different windows. I’m glad that the broken off part of your trees didn’t fall and damage anything. Our neighbor has a dead tree in the back of their yard that the humans worry about coming down on our house. We’re glad you all are safe after the storm.

  7. Hi Sammy,
I agree: it’s always sad to lose a tree, or eveb a good part of it. I hope you won’t get any of these high winds again.
Here, we had a nice rain – not too much at a time, but for quite a few hours – and without any high winds. Luckily, as there was some lightning and thunder. Which made sally ever so afraid. As usual, she retired to the farthest corner she could reach. Poor girl. But now she’d happily snoring again. 😉
Have a great weekend, and Sally & the feline crew send their “wuff” and “meow”,

Sorry to hear about the Trees, that’s some scary weather….

I hope you’re doing ok home alone – wish I lived closer and I could come and keep you company, actually we could have had a party whilst the parents were away?! Tee Hee

    • Oh I’m glad you aren’t getting any storms. We’ve had some bad ones the past several months but we live up on a hill so all the rain doesn’t hurt us – but the wind is always dangerous with all these huge trees. At least so far nothing has fallen on the house!

    • Thanks…..yes, it’s so sad when the great big old trees “give up the ghost” and die or fall apart in a storm but I guess Mother Nature knows best. Lots of little trees in the woods will now get more light and grow big and strong and take their place.

    • HA! Well, my parents were only gone one night – and they’re home now AND brought me some catnip from my girlfriend Sundae who they got to meet! They had fun and I had naps so it worked out OK. If they’d been gone LONGER though – well – it wouldn’t have been pretty when they came home. HAHAHAHAHA

    • Hi Basil…we were OK – thankfully our house is on top of a hill so we can’t get any flooding but in the lower parts of our area there were lots of flooded basements! It’s nice to be on a hill sometimes…..!

    • hi Savannah! Happy new house girlfriend…….I hope you’re relaxing a bit now that all the things you had in the OLD house (including your parents tee hee) are in the new one. I hope you find some great nap spots AND I think a window seat would be a FANTABULOUS housewarming present!
