I can’t remember too much about being a kitten because it was almost thirteen years ago, but I am quite sure that my cat Mommy MUST have loved me and taken care of me as best she could. It’s what Mommies do – take care of their little ones no matter what!
Now that I’ve had a human Mom for so many years I’ve had some time to wonder about my cat Mom. At the shelter where my human Mom and Dad found me, they really had no information about me other than I’d been found under an old house where nobody was living. I guess my Mom thought it was a safe place to have her kittens and I also guess she took care of us under the old house as long as she could until something happened to her or she just decided to take a vacation! All I know is someone found us and brought us to the shelter.
I’ve learned a lot about humans since then. One thing I do know from TV and books is that human kittens need their Mommies just like other animals of all kinds depend on their Mommies for everything! Food, shelter, safety, and most especially love.
Human kittens are called babies…….I think that’s a sweet word. Just saying the word “baby” makes me smile and I know it makes my Mom smile because she remembers when I was a kitten. This is me and Mom way back then:
Little animals and humans who have parents are ever so lucky. Even though I never really knew my cat parents, I sure know my human parents and while they never had any babies of their own, they have been parents to many cats and dogs through the years. It’s really sort of the same except they don’t have to buy me clothes, take me to school, fix my school lunch, make sure I do my homework – you know, stuff that human kids need. But they have made sure I’m healthy, that I eat the right stuff, that I have toys to play with, and most of all – the one very BIG thing that we have in common with human babies – that I feel all the love that they have to give to me.
I know of one little human baby who will be coming into the world in a few months who will certainly know exactly what I’m talking about when he or she meets their Mommy and Daddy for the first time……..and I hope Little Baby Huneycutt has the most beautiful and happy life EVER……just like I’ve had!
If you have any words of wisdom you’d like to share with the Huneycutts about being a parent, please feel free to leave them in your comment! The Huneycutts are going to be reading my blog and I’m sure they appreciate hearing advice from other parents – I know they’d like that a lot.
Special Kitty Hugs for the Huneycutts! That’s from me AND my Mom! 😉
