Baby Love

Standard

I can’t remember too much about being a kitten because it was almost thirteen years ago, but I am quite sure that my cat Mommy MUST have loved me and taken care of me as best she could. It’s what Mommies do – take care of their little ones no matter what!

Another baby picture of Sam

Babyhood…..it’s a wonderful thing!!

Now that I’ve had a human Mom for so many years I’ve had some time to wonder about my cat Mom. At the shelter where my human Mom and Dad found me, they really had no information about me other than I’d been found under an old house where nobody was living. I guess my Mom thought it was a safe place to have her kittens and I also guess she took care of us under the old house as long as she could until something happened to her or she just decided to take a vacation! All I know is someone found us and brought us to the shelter.

I’ve learned a lot about humans since then. One thing I do know from TV and books is that human kittens need their Mommies just like other animals of all kinds depend on their Mommies for everything! Food, shelter, safety, and most especially love.

Pix From Sam's "Baby" Album

Me and my Mom when I was 3 months old

Human kittens are called babies…….I think that’s a sweet word. Just saying the word “baby” makes me smile and I know it makes my Mom smile because she remembers when I was a kitten. This is me and Mom way back then:

Little animals and humans who have parents are ever so lucky. Even though I never really knew my cat parents, I sure know my human parents and while they never had any babies of their own, they have been parents to many cats and dogs through the years. It’s really sort of the same except they don’t have to buy me clothes, take me to school, fix my school lunch, make sure I do my homework – you know, stuff that human kids need. But they have made sure I’m healthy, that I eat the right stuff, that I have toys to play with, and most of all – the one very BIG thing that we have in common with human babies – that I feel all the love that they have to give to me.

Awww...My Baby Picture!

Safe in my Dad’s arms…..babies need their parents!

I know of one little human baby who will be coming into the world in a few months who will certainly know exactly what I’m talking about when he or she meets their Mommy and Daddy for the first time……..and I hope Little Baby Huneycutt has the most beautiful and happy life EVER……just like I’ve had!

If you have any words of wisdom you’d like to share with the Huneycutts about being a parent, please feel free to leave them in your comment!  The Huneycutts are going to be reading my blog and I’m sure they appreciate hearing advice from other parents – I know they’d like that a lot.

Special Kitty Hugs for the Huneycutts!   That’s from me AND my Mom! 😉

  1. What a sweet post! I am sure that baby Huneycutt will be well loved! The best advise I can give to the prospective parents is to love, love, love, and then love some more because these babies grow up WAY too fast! It will seem like a whirlwind, and then they will be grown! Congratulations to them! And hugs to my Sammy!

    • Hi Miss Pix!! Yes, today’s blog was a special occasion kind of blog to honor Miss Katie and Mr. James and their baby that’s on the way. I do think my kitty Mom took the best care of me as she could but then my human parents adopted me and I’ve lived the life of “one spoiled (lucky) cat” ever since! No complaints here believe me……tee hee.

Thanks for visiting me this Saturday……..I hope you got some rain? I sent it as you requested!!! 😀

  5. Very sweet post. Congrats to the Huneycutts. Shelby (our black lab/boxer) was a shelter baby as well and adopted for our (then) four year old son. That boy is now sixteen…and a half! Our advice would be: Don’t blink!

    • Hi Miss Dee!! That’s great advice – we do grow up pretty darn fast don’t we. Having lots of pictures helps recall the “baby times” and they’re just fun to look at too. I’m sure the Huneycutts will be snapping pictures all over the place of their little bundle of joy and your words of wisdom will come back to them….babyhood is over before you know it so ENJOY IT……..right? 😀 😀

      Happy Weekend!

Anyway, I don’t know if the Huneycutts have any pets but they’re about to have something a whole lot better – a little human baby!! YAY!!

      Have a super Saturday buddy…..

  6. Oh babyhood is the best! We got Sammie when he was a bit older (all his sisters and brothers had been gone for MONTHS!), so we didn’t get all his babyhood. We got some though, and we like to pretend he still has a few more years of babyhood left in him 😉

    • Hi Emes Family!! Thanks for coming by……I agree that being a baby is quite fun. I was a bit overwhelmed at how BIG everything was compared to me but I soon learned WHO WAS IN CHARGE (me of course)! As for you pretending your Sammie is still a baby – most of us kittens (and lots of humans too :D) LIKE staying a baby for as long as possible…..I’m sure Sammie loves that – I know I sure do!

      Happy Saturday!

    • Mollie I’m SURE you’re right about the Huneycutt’s new baby….babies SHOULD be spoiled right? They are babies for such a short time it should be “spoiling” time. After all we know that being grown up isn’t always a bundle of “spoiling” !!! 😀 😀

Happy Saturday to you and Alfie!

  8. I still remember my mother – she was beautiful! I cried when my human and her boyfriend took me away from her.

My human has never been a parent, so she hasn’t any advice… she certainly is not MY mother! More like assistant.

    • Hi Sparkle! I’m sorry you were taken from your Mom but then again you probably couldn’t have had a better life than you have with your human and her boyfriend. I know they love you. I honor my human with the title of “Mom” because I think it’s special to be a Mom….of course it’s mighty nice to have an assistant too (!!).

Hope you have a sparkletaculous weekend!!

You were a very cute kitten and I’m sure your cat mom loved you lots and I know your human mom does, too! I promise my human kitten will be loved and spoiled with very few blinks! I love, love, love all the sweet words. Baby Huneycutt says “thanks!”

    • Hi Miss Katie!!! Oh my goodness, how nice of you to stop by and visit us! We’ve ALL been thinking about you and the reason for my blog today – your baby. I think my friends here had some good suggestions and advice for you too don’t you? As for me – all I can say (and Mom agrees) is love your little one with all your heart, keep them safe but don’t hold on TOO tight so they can explore their world….it’s a beautiful one and it’s full of love if you just look for it. I don’t think Baby Huneycutt will have to look too far though to find it…. 😀 😀 😀

  10. Oh Sammy you were such a sweet little boy baby kitty angel….Minnie was like you she either lost her Mom or was weaned too early…as soon as she saw me she decided I was her Mommy now and in her earlier years she would knead my neck for several minutes several times a day as well as snuggle into me….at the time I had a curved back rocking chair that I say in at night and she would get up on the curved back and lay against me. I can tell that you are like Minnie that you are both very much loved and cared for….God Bless You Sammy and Pam:)

Minnie and Sam are loved very much indeed AND I know as do you that they give love to us in so many wonderful “cat ways”…..I know that the Huneycutts are anxious to show their baby lots of love too – love makes the world go ’round, it’s true.

Thanks so much for coming by………….and I think you and I would agree that God HAS blessed ALL of us in many ways………

      Hugs to you

    • Tee Hee! So you like my polydactyl paws huh? They told my parents at the shelter that people who were looking to adopt a kitten thought there was “something wrong with me” because I had extra toesies but my parents said I was SPECIAL with them. YAY! Good advice too for the new parents – ALWAYS TAKE LOTSA PIX and I agree with you about eating dinner together – “bonding time” !!

      Thanks for coming by…….happy weekend!

    • I wish I’d taken more pictures of Sam when we first brought him home….the earliest photos I have of him were after he’d been here for about 2-3 weeks. I simply was so excited to have him and play with him that I didn’t think to take photos! I’m sure MasterB was totally adorable as a tiny guy. It’s a shame too that you only have one photo of your beloved Cat…..I know they are always in our hearts but it’s nice to “revive” those special moments in photos. You’re doing a wonderful job of capturing those moments with MasterB I think.
