Blog On Fire!

Standard

Good Morning All!  It’s Monday and we had some bad storms through here last night which brought rain at long last AND cooler temperatures finally.  The only bad part was we had very high and scary winds and our electricity popped off several times.  That’s why my blog is late in your mailbox this morning – Mom was afraid to get online due to the lightning strikes all around us……EEEEEK!  All is calm and rainy and nice this morning though.

Sam Saying HI To The Camera

I’m On Fire (well, I’m glowing anyway!!)

So – big news – yesterday I got a brand new award that I’ve never received before!  This is the BLOG ON FIRE award and I received it from my very good Parisian friend Texas who immigrated to the USA from France.  I’m glad he did because he’s a fun friend and he and his two half-brothers live in New York with their parents.

I am supposed to tell you eight unusual things about myself.  I would think that by now most of you know every little thing there IS to know about me but I’ve got my thinking cap on and I’ll give you eight MORE things about me you might not have heard before…. Not sure how UNUSUAL these are, but they are DIFFERENT!

  1. I love frogs.  We have one big frog who lives by our garage and when it rains he comes out and sits on our sidewalk.  I will go stand by him and just stare at him for the longest time – then sometimes I give him a very gentle push and it makes him hop!  Kind of like a living, breathing frog toy!  His name is Freddy.
  2. I adore my Mom’s sugar-free pomegranate popsicles she often has in the evening as a snack.  I hear the plastic wrapper coming off and immediately hop on her recliner and wait for her to come sit down and let me have some!  Yum!
  3. When I was little, a big golden retriever who was visiting next door came into my yard and chased me WAY up in a tree!  My Dad had to get a big ladder and climb up to rescue me.  Yay Daddy!
  4. I like to hide behind corners in the house and wait for Mom to come by so I can jump out and scare her.  It works every time!
  5. I love chasing butterflies.
  6. I like to groom my tail – I hold it in both of my paws (so it will be still!) and give it a good cleaning every few days.
  7. Whenever I use my litter box I go find my Mom and tell her so she’ll clean it out right away.  I MUST have a clean litter box at all time! 😀
  8. I never, ever in a million years, thought I’d have so many wonderful friends through my blog – honest!

So there you have it…….eight semi-unusual things about me.  Now I would like to nominate eight of my friends who I don’t think have this award!   All you have to do is link back to me, tell eight unusual things about yourself and nominate eight more bloggers and you’re done!

Hands On Bowie – my handsome gray British Shorthair buddy who recently discovered the joys of nip!

Hutch A Good Life – who can resist these four adorable guinea pigs who live in Jolly Old England?

Nerissa’s Life – Nerissa always has the most interesting blogs and opinions on all kinds of things….I look forward to his updates!

Sparta’s World – My young friend Sparta – it’s such a big world with so many things to learn about!

Long Life Cats and Dogs – One of the newest blogs I’m following – a wonderful blog about rescuing and many OTHER interesting things.

Miao Chronicles – Wonderful updates on a group of gorgeous kitties including Sprocket who looks so very handsome in his little red beret!

Tigger’s Teachings – Another newer blog for me – Tigger is a ginger kitty too!

These Days of Mine – Miss Dianna takes BEAUTIFUL photos of sunrises and sunsets by the water….and her cat Sundae the beautiful calico is my special “girlfriend” !  😉

I love you ALL!

So there you have it………another award for my bling collection.  I’m so proud of ALL my awards and thank all of you again for being my friends.  I look forward to keeping up with ALL of you every single day (or whenever you post!!)………….Stay cool gang!

Kitty Hugs of Thanks, Sammy

P.S.  Tomorrow is TEASER TUESDAY (just a reminder!!)

    • Hi Texas…thanks again for the award! I have known Freddy for a couple of years now. He seems to like it when I play with him….he’s getting pretty FAT so I guess he’s got lots of bugs around to munch on.

      Happy Monday!

    • Hi Sundae! I’m glad Rumpy came to see you. He and his cat brother June Buggie have lots of fun with their blog. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I wish I could send you some of this rain – it’s really nice and refreshing after all that awful 100+ stuff we had to put up with! At least it’s cooler down your way right? You stay inside and look out that window of yours – that’s the BEST place to be!

    • Hi Nellie! You might consider making friends with a frog. They don’t bite, they move nice and slow, they don’t talk much, and they do not require batteries like lots of toys do. I’m glad you think I’m fiery – maybe my ginger fur makes me glow in the dark!!!!

    • Hi Cody!! I didn’t always tell Mom when I’d made a “deposit” in the litter box – just in the last year or so I’ve decided I would appreciate it to be outta there ASAP so I go find Mom and let her know. I’m lucky she LISTENS to me! You GOTTA try those pomegranate popsicles Cody….They’re made by Edy’s and they are DELISH. Thanks for the concats on the award too….I need to put it on my BLING area of my blog!

  5. Concatulations on your new award…well deserved, as always. Concatulations on the rain and cooler temperatures, too…wish we’d gotten more than a couple of lightning flashes. No rain and not much cooler….88 with high humidity isn’t much better than 98 when you step outside.
Looking forward to Teaser Tues. I know you’ll surprise all of us with a great, tempting photo.
    Hugs,

I hope I have a good Teaser for everybody tomorrow – I always wonder if it’s too easy or too hard………..guess we’ll find out soon huh???

  6. Sammy, thank you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This is such a great award. If I had been on top of things, it would have been today’s post, rather than the rather unusually sad one I ended up having to post. Tomorrow, however, is going to be a good, good day. I just hope I can answer the questions as well as you did. You are always so clever. My cats have asked me to tell you they rather enjoy frogs as well. We live next to a river, so there are always plenty to play with.

    • Oh lucky you having a river with LOTS of frogs! I only have Freddy but he’s still a lot of fun. I’m glad you like your new award. Mom and I love your blog. We’ll be interested to see what your eight unusual things are!!! Tee Hee

    • This is true – animals are SOOOOOOOOOO much easier to train but you will succeed with the hubby training…we learn pretty quickly what “works” and what doesn’t in the “incentives” department (wink). Sometimes they are pretty darn set in their ways so there’s a lot of bad habit breaking that has to take place before new habits can have a chance! You’ll work it out…Sammy and I have faith in you!!

    • Thanks Sparkle!! Frogs are way cool….just like having a toy but you don’t have to put new batteries in it to get it to move. Freddy and I have been buds for a couple of years and I always go check to see if he’s there after it rains.

  7. Hi Sammy,

    I’m Hitch,

I got my name cause I hitchhiked to my furever home. Anyway last summer I saw a squirrel outside while my servants were bringing the bags that have mom’s inside. When they weren’t looking I went out to say hi to squirrelly. Well squirrelly ran up a tree before we was done talking so I followed him. Well we finished our catversation and squirrelly jumped to another tree. Then I looked down. Woo wee! I was up higher than my house. Well I yelled to let my people know where I was. And I kept yelling. People all up and down the street heard me. My woman called the firemans for help. But they said no, they couldn’t do It again. (yes, again. A cat’s gotta keep in touch with his squirrelly friends). So she called the tree people and they said yes, but it would take awhile cause of a storm the night before. So my people told me hang on. Well, I was not happy, so I was telling the neighborhood. And guess what?! The fire truck cames down the street. So many neighbors called them, they decided they better save me. So even though it was hundreds of degrees out, the fireman put on a heavy coat and gloves and got on a ladder that raised him up, up, up! Right to where I was sitting in a squirrels nest. He reached out and I took a swipe at him with my claws. I need to make sure he knew who was boss, I wasn’t ascared or anything. Then…
He grabbed me and ladder went down, down, down. Wheeeee
When I got to the bottom my lady thanked both the firemans for saving my life again and the mommom lady gave them something so they could go get noms. Then when we went inside it was cool and I laid on the floor in the kitchen and had some water. After about 5 minutes I was over it, but my people were still talking about it. Now, even though I’m an inside only cat, everyone knows me. So I know your not really on fire, but remember to be nice to the fireman. You never know when you might need saving!

    • Wow Hitch – that’s quite a story! You were brave to hang on until the firemen came to save you – and I’m glad that they did…no wonder you stay INSIDE now – it’s a lot safer indoors. I mostly am indoors but go outside on a harness with my Mom around the yard. Do you have a blog? If you do, let me know where it is so I can visit you. Thanks for stopping by to tell me your story – we REALLY appreciate all the firemen in our town too. I’m just glad my Dad could help me the day I got chased up a tree all those years ago!

    • WOWZERS! That’s WAY hotter than it was here – good thing we can stay inside and stay cool on days like that huh? We’ve cooled down this week – it’s only in the upper 80s – kinda like a “cold wave”…. 😀 Thanks for the concats on the award by the way. More bling for my home page…..lovin’ it!

  9. Awww, thank you Sammy! Sorry it took me so long to thank you. I haven’t been a good blogger lately but I am honored by the award.

You’re such a sweet kitty, I hate to think of you getting chased up a tree! Good thing your daddy was there to rescue you. I wonder how far Sprocket could climb up a tree. He climbs up the kitty trees really fast.

    • You’re VERY welcome Little Miao! I really was lucky my Dad could save me from that big dog when I was little…needless to say, at my age there’s no tree-climbing any more for me!! Sprocket can do ANYTHING I think…he’s an amazing little guy for a three-legged kitty. We love him (and all the miaolings of course!).
