Monday Meows

Standard

Hello Friends!!  I want to thank all of you for worrying about me and my family after learning about the super bad storm that blew into town around here on Friday night.   Your messages Sunday were so sweet – made me feel loved for sure.  We know we were luckier than a lot of people around here or in the other states that were impacted by this unusual storm, but being without a way to communicate was very weird for us (very quiet too!).  No ringy-dingies on the phone – no internet – no nothing.  BUT we had power.  We were lucky on that score.   Yours truly missed out on a lot of sleep (on the alert all night!) so I’ve been busy catching up:

Catnapping on the couch

I’ve got a lot of napping to catch up on…..YAWN

Yesterday it was very noisy around here.  Lots of chainsaws chugging away especially.  This community we live in has tons and tons of big old oaks, maples and poplars.  Before a builder bought the land and put the 200 houses on it, it was a huge big piece of land where people hunted deer out here in the country – it was one big woods.   They left a lot of them when they developed the land.  We love having woods behind us and around us – it’s more private than some of the other houses that are on the “treeless” spots – but when we have a storm, we’re more vulnerable!   We lucked out again.  Just some dead limbs and debris but no WHOLE trees came down.  Even the chainsaw noise couldn’t keep me from napping the afternoon away though:

Ahhh….snooze practice makes purrrfect!

Anyway, here we are starting another week and other than thanking you again for your concern and messages and notes and emails (and blog comments!!) I want to remind you about tomorrow.  Let’s all say what tomorrow is together – shall we?  Ready?

TUESDAY TEASER!

This one isn’t going to be easy like last week’s British Pub photo.  Oh no – that was TOOOOOOOOO easy.  So prepare yourselves!

See you tomorrow gang – Happy Monday!

Love and SPECIAL hugs, Sammy 😀 😀 😀

  1. This has certainly been a rough few days, hasn’t it? Storms everywhere, and people with lots of cleanup. We have been lucky at our house – no power loss this time, and very little debris. So glad you are okay and resting from your guard duty! Have to keep up your strength! Have a great day, Sammy!

    • Hi Miss Linda! Glad to hear you escaped from this last storm with no damage or power loss. YAY! We’ve got everything ship-shape around here again too and hoping it STAYS that way with no more bad storms like that. YUCKY!

  2. Hi, Sammy,
I just LOVE that picture of you napping – you look so sweet!
Anyway, no damage for us here at my house, but it was a scary storm, and my parents weren’t home!! I was in charge, though, so I kept a close eye on everything around here. And when they got back home, I told them all about it too!
Have a good Monday….hopefully no bad storms!

    • Hi Sundae! I’m sure you did a wonderful job of protecting your home from that storm while your parents were gone. I guess we’re all part “guard dog” when we have to be even though we’re felines!! 😀 I hope for ALL of us that it’s the last storm like that – EVER. It reminded me too much of the tornado we had a few years ago. YIKES! Have a happy window perch kind of day………

    • Hi Alfie and Mollie! Yes we’re over the storm pretty much out here anyway – closer into Washington, DC things are still a big mess and there’s tons of people with no power still. They’re making progress though getting everything cleared up and back to normal (whatever the heck THAT is!). Sorry there’s flooding in northern UK….it seems there’s either TOO MUCH RAIN or NOT ENOUGH RAIN. Weather is weird everywhere! We’ll just all try to keep smilin’ right? 😀

    • Hi Pix……..my Mom was out at 5AM watering away. The only place she didn’t water was down the trail into the woods by the swing…..it was too dark….she didn’t want to step on a snake or run into a skunk…..can’t say that I blame her!! 😀

    • Hi Miss June……..it is nice and quiet today – I think lotsa people are on vacation plus most everyone out here has the mess from the storm cleaned up. Not so further into town however – things are still a mess. Makes me glad we’re HERE! 😀

    • Yeah – I was amazed that I didn’t even hear the chainsaws going…of course I’ve had training in ignoring “chainsaw-ish” sounds – when my Dad snores it sounds kinda like a chainsaw….. 😀 😀 😀

    • Hi Miss Trish! Yes there’s still an awful lot of people who don’t have power back yet and they said on the news this morning that it would be DANGEROUS on the roads because there are so few traffic lights operating! I guess it’s good this is a holiday week……lotsa people are off anyway…..but who wants to spend a week without a/c? My Mom said if she was on some desert island in the ocean with a bunch of cabana boys she wouldn’t mind not having a/c but otherwise….. HAHAHAHAHAHA Isn’t she awful?

    • Hi Cody….I’m glad you like that picture of me snoozing – we cats know how to snooze if we don’t know anything else right? We’re hoping we NEVER have a storm like this last one – reminded me WAY too much of the tornado we had. Scary!

Kitty Hugs to you and your Mom!

    • So glad you got your power back…..it sounded like you thought another storm was coming your way too – did it? Hope not! I think we’re ALL “all stormed out” now right??? 😀 😀 😀

        • No rain huh? That’s a pretty stiff wind though! Yep – I’m getting lots of napping time in and using the excuse of “poor me couldn’t sleep during the storm” so nobody disturbs me!

    • My Mom was rather upset about no internet……we still have dial-up so no telephone service meant no internet! I thought she’d go nuts without it (although she claimed she wanted to check my blog for me….uh huh….sure….).

  6. Glad to hear you are ok. What weather we are having. Here it is cool and damp. Apparently June was second wettest on record, and the second dullest.
A tree through the roof would not be fun.

    • Indeed a tree through the roof would not be a “good thing”…..plenty of people sadly had that happen but not in our neighborhood – a nearby city full of lovely old tree-lined streets was hard hit though….cars smashed, houses destroyed and on top of that no electricity. We were VERY lucky.

  7. So glad you guys are all right and didn’t lose a lot of trees or get much damage. Keeping the power was good – keep the refridgeration going! Rough without internet though!

    • Oh thanks so much! We were mighty lucky – others (like about a million of them) weren’t as lucky….slowly though the power companies are catching up and restoring electricity. We might have been without communications but we had A/C !

    • Hi Nellie! You’re a sweetie pie for worrying about us – we were very lucky! I worry about you and your river too you know….we have a tiny little creek at the bottom of our woods and when it rains it gets bigger but it will NEVER be a river…..I hope it stops getting BIGGER AND BIGGER and SCARIER. Maybe you, Kozmo, Cinnamon and Bob (if she’s up to it) could go down there and dig a great big hole and drain all the water away???????????????????

  9. Mowzers, were you in the path of all that rain?!?! We sure wish it would spread out a bit cuz we are in a drought – no rain for lebenty-leben days over here!! We don’t think we could sleep through chainsaws though. We’re impressed!

    Like

    • Yep – we got that storm full force BUT we were lucky – closer into Washington things got worse and people are still without power. But know what? There wasn’t much rain – at least here there wasn’t. We need rain too in fact – things are pretty well “fried” !! The chainsaw noise is over with here but I’m guessing there’s a lot of it going on where the guys are getting rid of dead trees over power lines closer in to town. Being in the country has its’ perks….lots of them in fact!
