It’s Monday and we’re waking up slowly here at my house! We can hear the “going to work” traffic out on the highway and it’s a big reminder for my parents of the days when they were out there in the thick of it traveling to work themselves. Nowadays, we’re ALL retired in this house – no traffic – no pressure – no big worries. Well, I still have to decide where my prime napping spot of the day is going to be and what I’ll ask Mom to give me for breakfast but those aren’t really TOUGH decisions.
Here’s the thing…..I was adopted after my parents had both retired so I never had to deal with them driving off every morning and leaving me ALLLLLLLLLLL alone all day. Nope. I’ve been lucky enough to have both of them here almost all the time (other than when they take those far away vacations they take!). That’s why I’m super attached to my humans. PLUS I’m an only-cat so my humans are my “entertainment” around here! It’s not the same when they’re not home….. 😦
Anyway, the point of my blog today is that when I hear the morning newscast and the reporters are telling about all the bazillion accidents on the highway during rush hour (and there are tons of them around Washington, DC that’s for sure) it just reminds me how glad I am that my parents are HOME. Mondays aren’t any big deal around here. It’s just another day – another “Non-Manic Monday” and I love it like that!

Retirement is wonderful, isn’t it? We love it around our house too! I just wait until all the crazy drivers are done rushing off to work before I leave, and we leave our boating until everyone has to go back to work! Have a great day – enjoy!

Hi Miss Linda! It’s nice to do what we want to do when we want to do it without crowds of humans all around isn’t it? Mom and Dad think so….and I have to say that even though I’ve never “worked” I’m sure I would NOT have liked it! ;D
Happy Monday!

Ah, my parents are semi-retired, but they still stay gone from home a lot. But I think the three of us deal with that very well. (Sometimes I need a little break from them, if you get my drift….) 😉
Happy Monday, my furriend. That sure looked like a yummy breakfast!

Hi Sundae! I’m glad you and your family have a good “arrangement” about when they’re not home – your Uncle Marshall can come and take care of you if they’re gone for a while. My parents DO leave me for a couple of days sometimes and I’m just fine on my own (assuming they leave me lots of water and yummies!). Getting a break from our humans is good sometimes as you say – – – makes us appreciate them even more when they get home! Happy Sunny Window Seat Monday!!

p.s. breakfast WAS good! 😀

Well, I hope you don’t pout when your mommy and daddy get home from a long trip. I know some furbabies do since they don’t want to be alone!!
I do my traveling from seeing Sundae’s mommy’s blogs!!

Hi Miss June….I have to admit that I do pout a little bit when they get back from a vacation. I don’t speak to them when they pick me up from the kennel – I won’t even LOOK at them! But when we get home to our own house I’m awfully happy and EVENTUALLY (like after a few hours) I quit pouting, go find my Mom and give her kisses and some lap time. Sundae’s Mommy’s blogs truly ARE as good as a trip – I think those beach pictures look like one giant litter box!!!

Sammy we soooo like that about retirement too! And country living makes it all the better. The Zcat use to give me a little nip on my ankle when she knew that we were going out the door. She didn’t want us to leave. Not to give you any ideas Sammy, that isn’t really a good thing to do!

Hi Pix….guess what….I’ve been known to give Mom a bit of a nip on the ankle too once in a while but RARELY because I know it’s a “no no no Sammy!” kind of thing. But I’m also good at using my pouty face. That’s as good as a nip any old day!

A pouty face would make me feel super duper guilty Sammy. That would get my attention. That picture of you standing at the door waiting for your Mama…sigh. You have a great home Sammy, but I know you already know that. You and Sundae and NotCat~such lucky loved kitties! Makes me 🙂

Hi Pix…..we are all lucky kitties that’s for sure. AND we know it! I don’t have to use my pouty face TOOOOOOOOO often though….which is good because I’d much rather be Mr. Happy Cat with a smile on my face!

Yes, you are extremely fortunate, Sammy, that your folks are completely retired. That has to be such a wonderful feeling. No rush-hour traffic, no getting out in the pouring rain or snow. No work problems. And no worries about losing a job in this economy. You have a wonderful life!

Your time will come Isobel! I always thought I’d be working until I could no longer drive a car but somehow it worked out that I didn’t have to. Anyway, if you love what you’re doing, the time will pass and you WILL be able to call it a day……then you can enjoy Das Boot more often!

Well I have Mom and Dad home all day so I’m “outnumbered” by humans here BUT they do like to play with me and both of them will take me out with them sometimes into the yard which I love – so I guess I have it pretty good! I’m sure your Daddy loves ALL of you too!

Sammy that was adorable! It just dawned on me, my Mom had already lost her job when she adopted me and the lazy lout hasn’t found another one outside of the home. My Dad was working when i was adopted, so when he left I still had my Mom.
My Mom HAS shared stories of my Grandpa Bobo who was the “only” cat with no doggy brother like you. He also used to stand at the door or the window til my Mom came home! He had to deal with A LOT of “manic mondays”
You and I sure are lucky, aren’t we?

Hi there!!! I’m so happy you came to visit me. I just love the little piggies myself and have learned so much about guinea pigs since I met them. Who knew?!?! Anyway, I don’t know all that much about dogs other than when I was a little guy a dog came into my yard and chased me up a BIG TREE and my Dad had to get a ladder out and climb up to rescue me! 😀 Come visit me ANY TIME…..I’m gonna go visit you too!

My Mondays are also non-manic. Mom is a writer and she ‘works’ at home. Being a writer seems really simple. All she does is sit at the computer for an hour or so and talk to herself. Cake.

Hey Sammy, buddy. Just catching up here. I totally hear you, bud. I’m lucky my human works from home most of the time (except when she goes to the “studio” whatever that is). When she goes away for “competitions” it’s really hard for me. It’s been just the two of us and my human sister all my life.
