A Visit To A Favorite Spot

Standard

As much as I like naps on rainy days……yesterday was FAR from rainy and I had very few naps!  It was a really pretty day – more like a summer day really because the sun was shining and it was HOT and HUMID.

Mom mowed the lawn and I supervised.  Then outside we went.  We walked down into the woods a little ways – many years ago when I first came to live here, Mom had a path lined with wood that led down to the little creek.  There was a GREAT BIG tree down there that had fallen years before.  Mom would put me up on the tree and I liked to walk all the way down it then back to where Mom was sitting on the tree.  We did that almost every morning……….today she carried me down there to see “our” tree and it was all covered with poison ivy!  It sure didn’t look as BIG now as it did back when I was little!  So, we came back up the trail and sat on the swing Mom and Dad put along the trail so they could sit in the shade at the edge of the woods on a hot day.  That was fun……..I sat at one end and Mom at the other and we stayed for a looooooooong time.

Can you see the bench in the woods just down the trail a little bit?  It’s hard to see it but it’s there on the right side of the trail.  Anyway it was nice and cool there.

Before I knew it, I was feeling drowsy……Mom noticed and since it was also getting very “buggy”, she picked me up and brought me inside and I completed my first BIG nap of the day in a sun puddle on the stairs!

Ahh....this spot will be sunny for AT LEAST another hour!

So as you can plainly tell, I enjoyed my day yesterday and today is supposed to be just as nice.  So nice I think Daddy’s going flying this morning……..so if you’ll excuse me, I’d better go help Mom pack a lunch for him to take to the airport.   Maybe I can mooch a piece of cheese or even better, a little taste of salami while she’s making his sandwich!

Tee Hee…………happy Thursday peeps!

  1. Good morning, Sammy! Sounds like you had a wonderful day yesterday. That bench looks SOOO inviting in that cool, shady spot! For the first time in several days, we had a sunrise this morning (that we could actually SEE). Mom took pictures, and I watched from my window seat.
    Happy Thursday!

    • Hi Cody! Man oh man do you look snappy in your new purple bow tie! Nellie is gonna be SOOOOO impressed! Yes I’m glad Mom knows what poison ivy looks like too – who wants itchy pads (or in her case itchy bottom?!?!). I love our woods too – nice and cool in the summer. Turns out it’s too windy for Pop to fly today. Boo Hoo. Tell your Mom that my Mom says HI !! She sent an email to her yesterday morning that was returned then tried again and it was returned AGAIN! Mr. Cyberspace is messin’ with my Mom! 😦

      Kitty Hugs and Happy Thursday!

  3. Good Morning Sammy! I clicked to enlarge the picture with the swing and yep yep yep that is a very wonderful place for you and your Mom to sit and listen to the talk in the woods and the smells. Poison Ivy is B.A.D. Country Husband found some yesterday along the fenceline by the back flower bed and it has to go! The PI not the bed. Enjoy your sunny Thursday, going to pretty in MissouREE too! 🙂

    • Hi Pix! I agree about that poison ivy stuff…..Mom and I were just reading a blog at CatWisdom101 about how we kitties can accidentally give that P.I. stuff to our peeps just by rubbing up against it and then giving our peeps a hug! Who knew hugs could be dangerous??? Be careful out there….we kitties don’t have a problem with those nasty plants but you humans sure do….I wouldn’t want that to happen to you OR your Country Husband!

Kitty hugs (without any P.I. of course)

  4. We finally have a sunny, pretty day after so many days of dreary rain. But, hey, any day is a good napping day. Especially after a long stroll on the woods path.

    • Hi Miss June…..I love that path even though I don’t really travel down to the bottom anymore (unless it’s in Mom’s arms!). It’s a whole lot cooler in the woods than in the yard though so that’s why it’s nice there’s a swing there for us to sit on. I’m sure we’ll use it a LOT in a month or so when it gets ICKY and STICKY out!

      Happy Thursday

  5. I loved reading about your day yesterday, Sammy! I’m sure after all those rains you had, you enjoyed being out in the sunshine. And you must have been completely relaxed to want to go to sleep as well! Love to you and your peeps!

    • Hi Miss Trish! It was a great day AND today’s shaping up to be a carbon copy of Wednesday. Only difference is Mom’s doing stuff around the house which of course interferes with lap napping BUT I have found other places to “hang my hat” !!

    • Mom says it’s a rather weird thing for a kitty to like BUT whenever I smell it I go nuts until she gives me a tiny piece. Don’t want more than that though – otherwise who knows WHAT would happen (burp!).

What a great day! It has been quite warm here too! Me loves it! That means me can lay outside and sleep and when I get too hot, move into some shade and sleep!

    • Hi Nellie! That’s exactly what I’ve been doing……having some shade on our front porch comes in handy….after I get too warm in the sun puddle I just slide over a few feet and pass out again!!

      Happy napping Queen P.

    • Hi Sparkle! I love the woods – I loved it more when I was younger and in the exploring stuff time of my life….now I really just like to enjoy the fresh air and watch the birds and squirrels with my Mom sitting by me! I’ve never been in the city before – I guess we just make ourselves happy wherever we may be!!

    • Indeed they are Nerissa! Was just reading on CatWisdom101 that we kitties aren’t sensitive to that poison ivy crud like our peeps are BUT we can accidentally (or on purpose!) rub up against it and thereby pass on the substance that causes the rash to our peeps (GASP!). Not that we’d do that mind you…I’m going to stay away from the stuff myself. My Mom has enough problems without that! 😀

      Happy Thursday!

    • Hi Miss Layla! We read CatWisdom about poison ivy and Mom passed your blog link on to some of her friends who thought they couldn’t get it from their kitties rubbing up on the plants…..we’re gonna be extra careful around here! We love CatWisdom but it’s hard for us to comment sometimes – – – thanks to slow as heck dial-up!!

  9. whew…took Mom some time to get to the keyboard… but now I am reading and making my comments…she just types…first, Mom had to be picked up off the floor when I read the part about poison ivy to her. She is beyond allergic to all things like poison ivy, oak and whatever…anyways, we both wanna visit that back yard…very nice

    • Oh yeah…that poison ivy stuff is BAD for our humans isn’t it?! My Mom and Dad both have had it before but now that they know where to keep an eye open for it, we’re “good”……that spot where Mom and I saw it down by the creek is a place I never visit anymore but I sure did when I was little. We learn the hard way sometimes huh??? I am lucky to have a wonderful yard though aren’t I?
