If you can attend this next Saturday, Feb. 25th you can meet my Mom!

This time next week I’ll be excited because my Mom will be coming back home from a book fair in Lumberton, NC.  She’s going with my Auntie Carol and they leave Friday, February 24th and drive back home here to Virginia on February 26th.

Here’s the website for the event in case you’d like some details…..

My Mom’s good friend and author p.m.terrell organized this event in her town of Lumberton.  She and her volunteers from the community got lots of sponsorships and support lined up and this is going to be an awesome event.  Everyone is excited about it down there.  Cool huh?

Mom’s taking three of her books to sell:  “The Mystery of David’s Bridge” which is her mystery novel, “Pink Jasper” which is a book she wrote with five other ladies a few years ago, and her latest book for children which is “Rainbow Forest Fables” – remember I helped her take the photo for the cover??

Will I miss my Mom?  You betcha…………am I proud of my Mom?  You betcha…….will Daddy and I be “bachelor boys” while she’s away?  You betcha – Daddy promised to play with me and let me have lap naps with him and generally spoil me as much as Mom does.  Tee Hee

I promise I'll be good while you're gone Mom....honest.....!

Hope you all have a happy Sunday!  We might be getting some snow – or maybe rain – or maybe both…who cares…Mom’s lap will be available until next Friday……

  1. Aw, Sammy, I love that picture of you – SO handsome!
I know you & your Dad will miss your Mom while she’s gone, but before you know it, she’ll be back. And I’m sure she’ll be ready for you to be back on her lap – she’ll miss you too, you know!
    Bet you’re on snow-watch today.

    • Hi Sundae…….yeah, we’re still waiting to see what develops in the precipitation end of things today. So far it’s just cloudy….we’ll have to wait and see! I hope you don’t have a Nor’Easter because all that wind is scary isn’t it?! I’m going to be a very good boy for my Dad while Mom’s away and when she gets home I’ll let her know how much I missed her – you can count on that!

  2. Hi Sammy,
Oh my, we aren’t looking too forward for our Mom to leave for Lumberton. Our Mom is the “Go-fer Chauffer” for Judy Walter, one of the authors who will be going down there too, (With MY book: “Sammy, The Talking Cat”) .They are really excited to see your Mom and all the author friends they have met and will meet . . .however, as much as we love our Daddy, we are our Mom’s shadow at all times. I will be sulking and Jasper . .well he gets really . . .well uh . . . really . . . sick. If ya know what I mean . . . :-(( Sure hope they have safe trip and lots of fun.
    Enjoy your Dad Time.
Your friend, Sammy The Talking Cat . . . and Jasper too

    • Hi Guys! I know you’ll miss your Mom too but how nice that she’s driving Miss Judy down to the event. I bet you’re excited about your book being there – WAY WAY COOL! My Mom said she can’t wait to see everyone again so now all we have to do is hope the weather cooperates up here – because we already know it’s going to be NICE down there! We’ll be missing our Moms but won’t it be fun when they get home????

    • I agree Pedro – I SHOULD be with her, supervising everything, setting up her display, sitting on top of piles of books looking adorable and attracting a crowd BUT – it would involve being in a car for five or six hours and NO WAY can I do that. I totally HATE being in a car. But never fear – I’ve given her lots of tips on effective arrangement of her books and notecards so she will be carrying my “vision” with her to North Carolina. She has to bring back photos of this whole thing too so I’ll be able to see just how well she follows direction. You know how difficult the fine art of human management can be!

  3. What a great blog you wrote this morning, Sammy. Your mom is a fine writer and it is good that she has this event to display her books and talk to old friend and meet new one. I’m excited for her also.

    • Happy Sunday Miss Caren and Cody! I’ll tell Mom you hope she sells lots of books – but I think the MAIN reason she goes is to see her writing friends and meet NEW ones….LOL…..also to get some autographed books for her bookshelves (only I don’t see even one available space on the shelves!). I know I’ll be fine – Daddy loves me and we like to play together and as long as he remembers where in the pantry my food is – all will be fine here!! Tee Hee

  4. I bet your mom is gonna have a super great time. I know that when she returns home, you’ll be oh so happy just to have her back but… make sure she knows to bring home prezzies, too. I have found that one can never have too many prezzies.

    • Oh Nerissa you make a GOOD point….I hadn’t thought about the prezzie angle. I’ll have to remind her when she heads out the door next Friday that I’ll be expecting some reminders (!) of her trip…….thanks for mentioning that…..whew!

  5. Wow, Sammy! You have a busy life! I am amazed that you manage to keep up with all the excitement! First the UPS man ruins your day, then you find out that your Mom is going to be out of the house…I know you will have a good time with your Dad, but really, moms are just better at some stuff, aren’t they? Hope you have a great week!

    • Hi Miss Linda….yep – Moms and Dads both have their “strengths” when it comes to certain stuff. Mom and Dad both love me a bunch though so no matter who’s “in charge” when one’s away – life is still DARN GOOD!

      Happy weekend!

  6. I will be really excited to see your mom at Book ‘Em North Carolina, Sammy! As the organizer of the event, I was able to pick the seating for us both – so I am right beside your momma and your Aunt Carol. I know I will have a blast catching up with them. I wish I could see them – and you – a lot more often! Maybe some day you can come with them, Sammy!

    • Hi Miss Trish! I know you will be right next to Mom and Auntie Carol – they’re SO happy that you arranged the tables like that. I wish I could have come and sat on the table with Mom; I know there’s a lady who will be there with her doggie, but he goes everywhere with her and I HATE being in a car!! Anyway, I told Mom to take lots of pictures so it will be almost like being there when I see them.

    • Hi Nellie! Wouldn’t THAT be an adventure if you and your Mom were coming to North Carolina…I know you live WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY up in Canada somewhere (although I’m not entirely sure what a “Canada” is!). I guess you know that I’m going to be assisting Kozmo on his latest caper with Mr. Chirpy – isn’t that neato????

    • Hi again! I hope Mom has some fun too AND gets to sell a lot of her books to fans. She’s going to read her kids book to the little kids in the Childrens Corner at the event…THAT should be way cool. As for that green lollipop? I found out REAL quickly that lime isn’t my favorite flavor….that’ll teach me to steal stuff out of Mom’s purse!!
