I’m sure you all think just about all I do is SLEEP….but you have to understand that because I have such a busy schedule, I need to stop and take a rest from time to time. For instance, here’s what I did Wednesday morning:
- Woke Mom up at 5AM and supervised my breakfast preparation
- Checked my blog for comments that needed responses and supervised Mom while she helped me post them
- Followed Mom into the bedroom closet and supervised while she got dressed and ready to go to the grocery store
- Checked Mom’s grocery list to insure my treats and food were on the list in a suitably LARGE print so she wouldn’t forget them
- On her return, supervised Mom while she put groceries away while sitting on one of the chairs around the kitchen table talking the entire time (SHE called it pestering but I called it talking)
- Followed her upstairs to the bedroom closet again and supervised her while she changed her shoes to put on her house slippers while talking the entire time (SHE called it pestering but I called it talking)
- Whined at the front door for someone to PLEASE take me outside for a stroll and a grass munch. I have to admit that this time I was the one who was being supervised…..
- Supervised Mom’s choice of treats for me after we came back inside from cruising around the front yard watching squirrels
Finally she sat down that that’s when she took the above photo. See? I was totally exhausted! Then after I had a nap for about an hour Mom got up and did a load of laundry (which I supervised) and the ironing (which I also supervised). After everything settled back down (gosh it just took her FOREVER!), she sat down again and when in about ten minutes I was sound asleep she took THIS photo:
So maybe now you see just how busy my day is and why I have to get my rest…..I just bet you thought I was one lazy old cat now didn’t you!!
OOPS – it’s time to go supervise Wednesday dinner preparations – see? There’s just so much to do around here that a guy has to make sure he gets plenty of sleep to keep up with the awesome duty of “Household Manager” !
Sammy
Whew, Sammy! You have exhausted me with your busy day! I don’t know how you do it, but your mom is one lucky lady to have someone so dedicated to supervising. I don’t think I would have the stamina! Have a great day, and keep up the good work.

Good Morning Miss Linda! It is a lot for a middle-aged kitty to keep up with isn’t it?! I think most people believe we pets just hang out and twiddle our paws all day but really we’re up to our long eyebrow hairs with WORK and/or supervising! It’s exhausting. Naps are NOT an option – they are a necessity!
Happy Thursday!!!!

Ironing?! Haven’t your informed om there are things being made these days that need no ironing. Ironing?!
I can see that you do, indeed, have an interesting and busy day. It’s the same with Zoe, she does have her hands full making sure I do everything that I m supposed to during the day here at The Hovel.

Hi Uncle Jerry…..HA HA on the ironing thing. Yes, indeed most of my parents’ wardrobe consists of “non-ironables” but Old Dad holds out on some of his shirts and of course the handkerchiefs. Zoe probably DOES have her paws full of keeping an eye on you! It’s a never-ending battle. But one we do because we LOVE our humans!!

Hi Miss Caren and Cody….Cody, you know what I’m talkin’ about don’t you?! Keeping things running like a well-oiled machine is tiring. Napping isn’t “optional” in a busy household.

Nice pictures, Sammy! You do have a very busy schedule; good thing you have time for all those rejuvenating naps. Love the pic of you asleep with that big ol’ paw covering your eyes!

Hi Sundae….I keep telling Mom I need a sleep mask but she thinks as long as I have my paw available (at no cost) I should use it freely. Hmm….maybe she’s got a point (but don’t tell her I said that!!).

Lovely lovely photos. Sammy looks just like Cat in the second one. I always went a bit soppy when he slept with his paw over his nose.

Same here Isobel…..something about how adorable it looks when they toss that paw over their nose/eyes gets to me too. He’s done that since he was a “baby” and I’d not seen that little gesture from any of my prior cats.
Happy Friday (how’s that foot injury?)

Oh Lord Sammy… Supervising seems to be the hardest job actually! I can very much sympathize with you… But just be careful you won’t wear your self out with all that running and checking and supervising – all at once! All of us here supervise everyone here, great way to know what everyone’s up to without seeming TOO interested 😉

I agree…..it pays to stay on top of things but not so “on top” that you wind up bugging each other!!! I do a lot of spying while I’m checking – you know – peeking around corners to make sure my Mom and Dad are behaving….following them down the hall when they don’t know I’m there…..that way I can keep an eye on them without being UNDER their feet all the time. Oh I guess we all have our super busy days don’t we…..I mean it’s not easy being in charge of “Human Management” around here and Mom insists that it’s not easy for her to be in charge of “Feline Management” either even though there’s only ONE of me! In your household there’s a whole lot more going on – that’s for sure. Besides, staying busy means there’s less time to get in trouble right? (Hee Hee Hee)

Holy cow-spotted cat! I’m tired just reading about your schedule, Sammy. And you didn’t even mention your night time security patrols… Maybe you should think about a vacation, Sammy. Someplace warm and sunny, maybe?

Aloha Pedro! I could use a vacation. Definitely. Warm and sunny? Hmm….let me think now….who could I visit (via prepaid postal service box) who lives in a sunny place where I could learn how to surf and enjoy the fine art of gecko hunting while avoiding a run-in with a feral rooster?????
Happy Friday Dude…..
