Resting Up For Next Weekend

A Post-Breakfast Nap on the Couch

On a Sunday afternoon SOMEONE needs to stretch out on the couch - since Dad's not interested, I guess it will have to be ME!

Ahhhh…..Sunday…….I figure I’ll need all this week to rest up for NEXT weekend – why?  Well, as you know, I’m a football fan and I do believe it’s time for the SUPER BOWL.  No, that’s not what we call my food dish around here – it’s the big wazoo of football games.  No doubt it will be noisy around here with Mom screaming, Dad screaming at Mom for screaming, and me – well – I’ll be on a footstool watching the game – quietly following that little round thing as it flies through the air or gets kicked somewhere.  It’s so exciting.  All those little tiny people running every which way in all directions – it’s just so much fun to watch.

So that’s why I’m taking this opportunity to relax……I’ve been outside several times today – it’s been sunny but chilly – and OLD DAD is about to start a fire in the fireplace.  So it’s a perfect late afternoon to do what we ALL know I do best…………snooze.  The couch is my chosen spot just now – mainly because Mom’s in her studio working on some stuff to get ready for a BIG book fair/signing/event that she’s going to in February.  I’ll do a special blog this week all about that but it means she’s going to be leaving me ALL ALONE WITH DAD for a few days.  I can sum up my feeling about that in one word:

Just kidding Pop…..actually it will be a good time for some good old-fashioned male bonding.   I guess.

Happy Monday All!

  1. Football addict are ya, Sammy? You’ll need all your energy to help calm mom down, I’ve heard she gets a little out of it when she watches the games, and Superbowl is the BIG one, so maybe you ourta plug up your ears with some of the tissue paper you have laying around.

    See you later, big guy.

  2. I am sure you will manage to keep Dad in line – you are, after all, a very wise cat! And resting up for the big game is a good idea – it takes a lot of energy to deal with all that excitement! Have a great day.

    • Hi Miss Linda! Happy Monday….yeah, I guess I’ll have to make sure my parents stay relatively QUIET for the game so I can concentrate on the action myself. Yelling disturbs my train of thought – you’d think that as good as I am training my humans with OTHER things, I could keep them from distracting me from a very important football game! I’ll sit them down this week and have a little TALK with them – yeah – that’s what I’ll do.

      Happy Monday, Hugs, Sammy

    • Hey Rumpy – perhaps it’s time to visit a neighbor??? Someone will be PAR-TAYING I’m sure; just make sure that “someone” has a dog so you KNOW there wll be treats available! Woo Hoo!

  3. There used to be an ad here for carpets which always showed a white cat lying comfortably across the floor.
I am wondering if you have a local blanket firm for whom Sammy could demonstrate the qualities of their goods. 🙂

    • Oh Boy! How cool is THAT Cody? You’ll be celebrating your Dad’s birthday AND watching the BIG football game – that’s a lot of partying! I think that means you should be getting some extra treats since it’s such a BIG DAY. WOO HOO!

      xxoo, Sammy

  4. Hi, Sammy,
No football at my house, and that’s okay with me. I think it’s great that you watch the game! Mom says one of her previous kitties used to try to “catch” the baseball when a game was on. Now that’s funny.
Rest up for your busy Super Bowl weekend!
    Love, Sundae

    • Hi Sundae! I love baseball too……once we’re over with the football season I’ll be READY to watch that tiny little white ball on the screen and those guys running around the bases and in the outfield! I’m taking care of my rest schedule all week long. I’ll be rarin’ to go Sunday!

      Love, Sammy

  5. Oh Sammy! Although you might be sitting VERY comfortably in the lap of your mom – we think some dad-time is very important and we bet you’ll have loads of fun! Let us know how everything goes… 😀
Maybe we are a little crazy with ideas, but wouldn’t it be cool Sam, if you had your own on-line photo book everyone would purchase or check out – or EVEN better, your own memoirs !! Wow… we can see it in front of us … “12 years (and probably 12 years more) of Sammy’s memoirs” … 😉
    Loads of kitten hugs,

    • HA! Sam’s Mom Pam here….I read your comment to Sam and now he thinks he’s a **STAR**. He wants me to write his memoirs now. 😉 That might actually be a fun project. I’m already a writer and artist – and I recently finished a childrens book about animals in a magic forest – so why not a book about Sam? I could call it “One Spoiled Cat: Sammy the Extra-Toed Kitty” (well, maybe not that exactly but you know what I mean). One thing we ALL hope for is that our Sammy is around for AT least twelve more years. We don’t know what we’d do without him!

Has Cookie’s surgery incision healed back up? Tell Pillow to BEHAVE!!! HAHA

      Hugs right back……..
      Pam (and Sam)
