My Mom's first kiddies book! (that's KIDDIES not KITTIES !)
Allow me to do a little shameless promotion for my Mom. After all, Mom does tons of things for me so the very least I can do is give her new book a plug on my blog – right?
Besides, you may remember that I told you all in an older blog that I was helping Mom look for just the right tree in our woods for her to use as a photo for the cover and back of the book – – – a tree where the forest fairy who takes care of all the animals in the magical forest lives. This was the tree I (yes me) suggested and there it is – in living color!
So this is a book of fables….you know what a fable is….a little lesson being told in a very understandable and fun way. My Mom wrote the stories using creatures living in the forest – like birds, squirrels, chipmunks and even some bugs! She also did all the artwork herself. It’s not a big book but the type size is large enough that if a kid COULD read, it would be easy to read and if an older person wanted to read it TO a kid, the older person could SEE the words!!! 😉
You might consider buying a copy of it if you have kids or grandkids or know someone who does….it’s a cute book but then of course I’m slightly biased in my opinion of anything my Mom does!!! She’ll eventually offer it for sale on her website I would think but for now, it can be ordered from http://lulu.com/ and you just put “RAINBOW FOREST FABLES” in the Search box!!! Cool huh?
Yeah, I’m proud of her………she’s published a mystery novel and has two other novels she may eventually (hint hint Mom) finish one of these days but this little book is something VERY different for her. Plus it was a lot of fun for her to do. I’m all for my Mom having fun. After all, thanks to her I have fun every single day!

Yeah, Mom had a lot of fun with this project – I tried to be helpful and she SAYS I was. I even tried to help her do the drawings but I don’t think I’m as artistic as she is!

Hi Sundae….I’m so glad you think Mom’s book would be a nice thing for your Mom to buy for nieces and nephews. All MY nieces and nephews are all grown up!!! I’ll encourage Mom to get to writing on those books – of course I’ve been hearing “I WILL – I WILL” for a few years now. Tee Hee

Hi Auntie Anita! Did you all have a nice Christmas?? I did a great job with the tree hunt didn’t I?! I know all the trees quite well since whenever I’m out there, I get to scratch the bark…. 😀 I know you have quite a few little kiddies who would enjoy having you read the stories to them – they’re fun!

Looks really great. Love the tree. My Mom says she wants to read it. She loves books like that. I think she will never grow up and be too old to read childrens books. She said she would read it to me and Jasper too. Will your Mom have it at Book’Em this year ?? Mom says she will be there, and will buy it then if it is there. I am not really happy when my Mom goes away to shows and leaves me here to take care of Daddy and the Kid, but if she promises to bring back a book, I guess I’ll let her go.

Hi Sammy! YES my Mom will have the kids book at Book ‘Em in Lumberton. I think you’d love for her to read the stories to you and Jasper – I know I sure like them! I also like to look at the pictures – especially the squirrel and the chipmunks because I like to watch them outside all the time. I’m with you about letting my Mom go away and leaving me with my Dad. I love my Dad but his lap isn’t nearly as comfy as Mom’s is……

My Mom was trying to order the book using PayPal and it won’t let her but it lists PayPal as an option.

Hi Pedro! Mom gives me the super important jobs around here and I took “cover artwork” seriously…..that’s one of my favorite trees anyway (could it be because it’s right by one of the bird feeders???) so when I told her THAT was my choice she went along with it. Besides, it had the coolest hole up on it that was just right for her to fix up like a little hidey hole for the forest fairy!!!!

Green papers are hard to come by aren’t they – especially THESE days! I think it’s a good book but I suppose I just might be a teensy weensy bit prejudiced!!
