Tree’s Up!

Standard
Sam's Christmas Tree 2011

Yippee! It's up! Mom left the whole back free of presents so I could hide back there and spy on everyone!!

At last….I’ve got my tree up…..Honestly I tried to stay out of my parents way while they decorated but it wasn’t easy.  I especially liked those boxtops when Mom would open up another ornament box!  Every time Mom tried to take a picture of me “helping” though I was smart enough to run off before she could.  Sneaky huh?

When the box that has Dad’s toy soldier collection for the mantel and our Christmas stockings in it was opened up, Mom took my stocking out and it rattled!  Yes – I guess there was a toy in the very bottom that I didn’t SEE before we put it away….so I got an early Christmas present because Mom gave it to me and I played with it while they finished decorating.  I think they were glad I was distracted…for a while 🙂 !

I’ve got LOTS of photos to show you but don’t want you to get tired of seeing our house and stuff so I’ll share them over the next few days.

Mom says I’m just like a little kid when it comes to being so excited about Christmas but guess what…..she and Dad are like that too!  I think maybe there’s just something about Christmas that brings out the “kid” in us?

Nothing wrong with that!!!

Happy Sunday

  1. What a beautiful tree! And you even have presents under yours! Ours doesn’t have presents under it. Mom says it’s because she doesn’t trust us enough to not rip the paper off and chew the boxes before Christmas. She can be such a spoilsport.

    • Hi Allegra and Ruby! Thanks for taking a look at MY tree. Back in my younger days I was a bit more interested in dismantling the tree and presents than I am these days. I’m content to just look at the lights and packages and take the occasional poke at any low hanging ornaments (tee hee). Christmas morning when there are lots of boxes and ribbons and tissue is my FAVORITE time though and I can rip and tear to my heart’s content!

      Happy Sunday Girls!

  2. YAY, Sammy!
That tree is gorgeous! Trust me, we won’t get tired of seeing it – or your house “and stuff”!
I was a happy kitty last night too – my Mom and Dad came home after being out of town for a few days!

    • Hi Sundae….I know you’re a happy girl to have your parents home. Now maybe you can talk them into trusting you with a Christmas tree! 🙂 I’ll have more photos all this next week thanks to Mom and her trusty camera.

  3. Wow, what a pretty tree. Your Mom and mine decorate the tree a lot alike. I see your Mom puts ribbons on her presents . . . mine used to try that too. I gave her such a fit and had SO MUCH FUN with her ribbons, she had to stop putting ribbons on her presents!! I am so full of it when it comes to Christmas and especially RED ribbons !! I love Christmas too !
Enjoy that pretty tree, Sammy The Talking Cat

    • Hi Sammy!! I used to be a ribbon nut too. Mom used to put that curling ribbon and all these fancy bows on the presents but I soon made it obvious that just wasn’t going to work! Now she puts those stick-on ones on and I can’t pull those off easily so I just LOOK at them now. Whoever intended those stick-on things was a real “kill joy”……..Hope you enjoy your tree like I’m enjoying mine.

    • You’re right about NotCat and trees. He’s already shown he likes being IN them so finding one in his own home would be quite tempting! Fairy lights and stars would be lovely as long as they are out of reach…LOL

        • I saw that on your blog just a bit ago Isobel and I do believe I’d be grabbing my old heart if I saw Sam up on a wall that high! However I believe that ginger ninja of yours is FEARLESS. He’s up for anything (or certainly up ON anything!). I do agree with you that the very least he could have done is retrieve that collar he “lost” in the shopkeeper’s garden….. 🙂

          • Hi Pam
I discovred with Cat that when he was doing something scary that I couldn’t stop, it calmed me to be behind the lens. Same thing applies to Not Cat. All the same, I’m hoping not to have too many scary photos. Make me see the positive side to feline arthritis, but i guess it means he can get up and away from ground level dangers. 🙂

          • Hi Isobel…that’s true about NotCat and his safety – at least you know he can climb well and up and out of harm’s way should be need to. Thankfully cats don’t often lose their balance AND he apparently knows what he can and can’t do up on those walls and railings – he’s a real acrobat! I love seeing the shots of him doing his thing even though I know that even from behind the lens, your heart must skip the occasional beat…… 🙂

  4. True indeed, Christmas brings out the young in us every year, Sammy. I’m happy the tree is finally up and decorated and presents are snug beneath it awaiting St. Nick’ reindeer run so they can be opened.

    Congratulations! The tree is up!

    • Yes – I’m one happy guy this morning. Mom and Dad just finished making a bazillion Christmas cookies and I sat in the living room on a pile of tissue Mom gave me and listened to Christmas music. I love Christmas music (almost as much as I love my tree).

    • Hi Miss Caren and Cody….I’m a VERY GOOD boy. Or maybe it’s because I’m older and have learned that tearing up presents is one of those “NO NO” things!! When I was little I loved pulling off bows and hiding them – these days I’m content to sit in a library chair and just look at the tree OR go behind where Mom hasn’t put any presents and lie on the skirt UNDER the tree and nap.

      Cement’s not a bad idea though…!!! 🙂

    • Don’t think I haven’t at least THOUGHT about “THE BIG CLIMB” a couple of times Pedro but I think now that I’m older and wiser, I’ll stick to THINKING about it instead of doing it! 🙂

    • Thanks Miss Patricia and Miss Mathilde….our tree looks great this year and I’m sure Mom will have her camera handy on Christmas morning when I’m making a mess – I mean opening my presents – in the library!

  5. Yeah, the tree is up *and* there’s a spot just for you!! My favorite part about your tree, other than its symmetry is just plain gorgeous and it looks so good there in your library, is those American flags! 🙂 Enjoy Sammy.

    • Hi Miss D!! Gotta have those flags on it to be “complete”….we’ve put those on our tree since 9/11 in fact. Mom and Dad did a nice job decorating this year don’t you think? My favorite thing about it is that nice space behind it she left clear for me to nap in! HAHAHAHAHA
