Sam’s Morning Excitement

Standard

Well!  What a morning I’ve had!  It all started when I had to wake Mom up extra early (she wasn’t too happy about that) because I saw something out the front door and had to tell her.  Yep.  It was still dark out but you know we cats can see stuff you humans can’t when the light is dim.  She didn’t see what I could see until she cracked the door open and went on the porch.  There were about eight HUGE turkey buzzards out there!  Big, nasty, scary things.  We often see them flying around in the sky here but this is the first time they landed in MY yard!  They didn’t even budge when Mom went out there either – they stood their ground and walked around like they owned the place……..Mom said she wasn’t sure why they were there – but we did have a very heavy dew last night so maybe they were thirsty or maybe they just liked the look of our nice green lawn and decided to camp out for the night??????

Sam's Front Yard

Looks like a landing field for turkey buzzards doesn't it ?!!

They were right between the oak on the right and the garden on the left…..making themselves at home!  I’m going to keep my eye out all day in case they come back.

The other excitement is that in the local paper yesterday Mom said there was an article about bobcat sightings around here! YES – great big cats that look a little bit like me (well, sort of)…..Mom says they aren’t sweet like me though….they haven’t been seen right here in Warrenton but VERY CLOSE BY…..so you see – my “house and garden patrol” duties are getting more complicated every day.

It’s always SOMETHING……………..

Peekaboo....come and get me Mom!

Boys just wanna have fun.....!

Hi Everyone!  I’m BACK today after having my awesome guest blogger yesterday.  A fish – who’d have thought I would host a fish here when I usually EAT fish???  Well, it just goes to show how civilized I am.  So says my Mom anyway.

Mom’s off to the grocery store again this morning.  As usual, I made sure all the REAL necessities were on her list – litter, cat food, etc.  I didn’t add “new toy for Sam” to the list because – well – you’ve seen my toy box (wagon) and it’s full to the brim already.  I’m always rediscovering some old toy to play with so I don’t need new stuff.  For instance, the other day, I knew Mom was in her studio so I came up the stairs halfway and called her – then when she came out of the studio door and saw me I squished myself down so all she could see was my ears and eyes…..and I called “MaMa” – she rolled a ping pong ball down the stairs for me and as it bounced toward me I caught it!  She thought that was a big deal – came down to get the ball and back to the top of the stairs to do it all over again.  New game!

Humans are SO easily entertained…….(wink)

Happy Wednesday Everyone – make it a happy day for your pets – after all, we try really hard to make every day a happy day for you!

Introducing Sam’s Buds “Fleetfish Mac” !

Standard

Hi. My name’s Mick Fleetfish and I’m a guest blogger for my pal, Sam. And Sam is a good pal ‘cause I’m not even a cool cat. I’m a fish. An angelfish, to be exact. I live with my band.  Here’s a picture of the whole gang:

Some bands have a bus....we have a tank!

There’s Lindsay Buckingfish. He’s very flamboyant with his black and white marble suit and his orange head. Always wants to be the center of attention. Especially at feeding time.

Then there’s his girlfriend, Stevie Fishnick. Sigh. I’m in love with Stevie Fishnick, with her long, golden fins. Sometimes she likes me, too. But she’s laid eggs with Lindsay and I always worry she’ll want to go back to him.

There’s John MacFish, whose silver with black stripes. When he gets scared, his stripes turn almost the same shade of silver as the rest of his body. Like he’s seen a ghost fish or something.

And his wife, Christie MacFish, a smoky leopard with a smoky voice. Smokin’! Yeah, she’s hot. She’s so hot, she’s laid more than 1,000 eggs with John. See them on the filter?

Our band manager was named Pipsqueak Littlefish because he was the size of a nickel when he joined the band. That’s even what he was called, a nickel angel. He’s a koi angel and is mostly white and orange. With worried eyebrows. He’s usually carrying a briefcase and worrying about how much everybody is spending. Like we have nothing else to do.

Oh, and me? I’m the one in the picture with Christie MacFish. I’m a platinum angel with a bent fin. I like to hang in the background. I’m bigger than everybody else so I guess sometimes I look kind of goofy. But all I want to do is hang out, play my drums. And blog on my iFish.

So that’s my band. Fleetfish Mac. Named after me, Mick Fleetfish, and John MacFish.

Thanks, Sam, for letting me be a guest blogger. Maybe someday soon we can hang out in person. Or whatever, dude.

Fishy Thoughts

Standard

Tomorrow I’m having a fish as a guest blogger here so I thought maybe this morning I ought to talk about fish just a little bit.  First of all, I have to admit, I’m a fishaholic.  I don’t eat meat AT ALL (well, once in a while I beg for a tiny piece of salami) but I DO adore fish.  Tuna, salmon, shrimp, whitefish, cod….LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!  So, I do like fish a lot.  I’d just never thought about having a fish for a friend!

Mom says she’s known people who have cats AND aquariums.  Personally I think that’s pretty tempting.  I mean, when nobody’s looking, why not dip a paw in that water and grab a nice fresh fish?  Now I’d never, ever do that of course – I think I’d enjoy just watching them swim around…..they are pretty to look at.

Mom’s friend has a LOT of fish and several aquariums in her house.  When Mom gets a new photo from her friend, I’m usually sitting on her lap at the computer or at least lying on the sofa in her studio and she will show it to me.   Mom’s friend is p.m.terrell, a writer, and she has angelfish – one of them will be here tomorrow to talk about life with his fellow angelfish!!  Make sure and stop by to check it out.

See?  I can be very generous in addition to being very handsome…….sharing my blog with a FISH!  Who’d have thought it??????!!!!

I Can See That Fat Squirrel Hanging From The Squirrel-Proof Birdfeeder! HA!

Fish? Did someone mention fish????? One of my favorite subjects!

Sunday is Funday for Sam

Standard

What’s the deal about Sunday?  Well, that’s the day the BIG newspaper is in the house.  The one with all the sections and comics and advertisements and stuff…the one Dad makes into a long tunnel for me to play in on the living room rug.  Of course I have to WAIT (not my best quality) until my humans have finished reading it first (why they want to read that stuff is beyond me!) – then Dad folds the sections in half and makes a long tunnel out of them…..and puts one of my toys at the END of the tunnel.  I like to zoom through the tunnel to my toy – sometimes with my tail held up so I destroy the tunnel when I run through!  That’s the game you know…..then Daddy has to set it all up AGAIN!!!  Eventually he gets tired of it.  By then I’m kind of tired of it too so it works out for both of us.

The other cool thing about Sunday is breakfast.  Mom makes breakfast ALWAYS on Sunday.  Not most other days of the week because she and Dad are busy doing human stuff but Sunday – ALWAYS.  Their breakfast involves one of my other favorite things – BACON!   I can smell it cooking and pester Mom the entire time it’s frying…..when it’s finally done and they sit at the table, I’m a good boy and don’t beg – well, not really – I just hop up and sit politely in one of the chairs at the kitchen table and STARE at Mom until she puts some bacon by my bowl on the floor.  We do this three or four times until I’ve satisfied my NEED for bacon.

See why I love Sundays?  Lots to love about Sundays around here!

Sniff…….sniff…….sniff…….yum………!

DO I SMELL BACON COOKING???????????????????  Excuse me, blog’s over – time to visit the kitchen.
