Gosh………where has this week gone?
I can’t believe it’s Caturday already……maybe because I’m getting older time is moving more quickly? Hmmm….I’m not sure I like that!! Mom says when she was young time just dragged by…..everything just plain took FOREVER to arrive – now just like me – she says time is flying. Oh well………Caturday Here We Come!
First of all Caturday means bacon. No complaints there.
YAY! Is that bacon I smell?????
Secondly it means both Mom and Dad are home and don’t go anywhere. No complaints there (more lap time for me).
Thirdly I don’t have to worry about housecleaning or laundry activities because they were done Thursday and Friday. No complaints there (except I do kind of like it when Mom puts fresh sheets on her bed).
Ahhh….fresh bedding!
The only other thing going on around here is my Mom finally finished her little short story/book about the feral cat who starts his own colony in the magical forest! Yep – she’s waiting for a proof copy of it but it’s DONE. The “star” of the book is a little tuxedo cat named “Feral”. Now I have to say that my Mom’s Dad’s name was “Ferol” – same name, different spelling. She’s kind of honoring her Dad and writing about feral cats (ME!) at the same time! Cool huh? The book is called “Feral’s Rainbow Forest Family”…….it’s a VERY short book – only 22 ages – and Mom did three illustrations for it herself. Here’s the cover:

Here’s what “Feral” looks like – this is him as a tiny kitten after he’s been separated from his Mom and he’s wandering on his own – he’s in some deep grass and sees a human for the first time! Can you tell he’s scared???? I bet I was scared when I saw my first human too…..

Well, I guess that’s all that’s happening in my world. How about you? Anything exciting going on? I’m still somewhat pouting that we didn’t get any snow after they promised me 1-3 inches. But I promise by the time I get my bacon this morning for breakfast I’ll have forgotten ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL about snow!

mmmm bacon…my mum had some of that yesterday but wouldn’t give me any the meany. Shame you’ve not had any snow…we’ve got loads here and I’ve been loving running around in it….my mum promised me snowballs today too BOL. Feral cats…you mean ones I wouldn’t get in trouble for chasing? Ohhh I’d love to read that book! xox

Well there MUST be some way you can get back at her for not sharing bacon….could you perhaps hork up your food on the carpet or her bed??? Or how about NOT QUITE making it outside to use the “facilities”??? Every time they’ve called for snow it hasn’t happened……….maybe if they DON’T keep saying we’ll get it, we will???

Hi Easy! I have a feeling I was pretty scared when I saw my first human…it was probably the man from the pound trapping me under the old house where they found me when I was tiny…..and I’m SURE I didn’t like him much after that! Glad you like Mom’s book cover………..Oh – Mollie would like some more snow – if you still have a lot you could send her some – - – apparently Misaki got LOTS after you said you were gonna send some to her!! You’re so KIND to mail snow to those who want it……………..whatta guy!

Hi Katie! Well, it’s a very SHORT book (more like a short story than a real book) – only 22 pages long…..but I think Mom did a good job telling how Feral became leader of the group of kitties in the magic forest AND how he found true happiness too!! Happy Caturday to you too……….enjoy!

Hi Cody!! I think his eyes were kind of dilated because he was scared to pieces in the drawing…he was just a little guy seeing HOOMANS for his first time….then in the other drawings in the book you can’t see his eyes but Mom just thought green eyes (like yours!) would be pretty on the cover!

Hi Miss Pix! I think Feral is darling too and I’m a cat – and a BOY cat too!! I just love the look in his eyes. I probably looked JUST LIKE THAT when the man from the pound trapped me under a house to take me to the shelter. EEEEEEEK! Happily my Mom and Dad came “kitty shopping” two days later and rescued me.

I had so much fun Friday I’m taking Saturday off to recoup. I took this hot tamale out for lunch at Don Chilitos Mexican Grill. It’s a local hangout with really good authentic Mexican food, good portions and really yummy. My date had to take half of her dish home as it was twice what she wanted to eat. I devoured my shredded beef nachos as usual. I’ve been eating right lately to help out my diabetes so the nachos gave me quite a carb buzz. I needed to take a serious nap when I finally returned home. It’s McDonald’s for breakfast this morning, as usual. My date from yesterday will be there.

Oh my goodness Mr. Leo……you don’t like bacon???? Well, I guess if I lived with you, I would never have known the joys of bacon huh? But then I probably would have learned how to GARDEN from Doggy (hahahaha) and so many other things that I don’t do here with my Mom. Glad you like the drawing of little Feral. Probably in the next couple of weeks the book will be available on Lulu but Mom will tell me when I can tell the world!!

Hi Charlie! I think it’s a real shame you never get bacon…..I almost ALWAYS have it on Caturday – my Mom makes BIG breakfast on Caturdays but during the week not so much. You better try and stay nice and warm and cozy – it’s cold here too but no snow….

I’m glad you liked “Baby Feral” in the drawing. The book is really SHORT – only 22 pages in big type but it’s a kids’ book so big type means easy reading. Anywho, hope you have a cozy Caturday!

Exciting book news! The drawing is adorable. The bitty kitten in the tall grass reminds me of Sprocket, because his Fairy Godmother found him in some tall grass too. But he wasn’t skeered, he was excited, and he hopped over to her and sort of meeped. Now I have to go hug him because I’m just so thankful she saw him in that split second on the road. And imagine, if he had been a tabby or all black instead of b&w, maybe she wouldn’t even have seen him. *sniff*

Stairs are SUPER……I probably would also like a “cat tree” but I’ve never had one – my stairs are good enough for me!! Mom wrote the cat book using her Dad’s name “Ferol” then decided it made more SENSE for her to spell it “Feral” since the kitten was a feral kitten and people might think Mom misspelled feral…..HAHAHAHA

Hi Nylablue…..Mom published her books on Lulu (free) except for her mystery novel which was published by a “real” publisher. Lulu is easy….maybe your Mom would like to put her books in print like that??
